Dr. Ledesma was raised in Southeast Georgia near Savannah and is the son of the late Dr. Ernesto Ledesma, a respected pediatrician. He received his undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University and worked as physical therapy technician for 3 years. While working as a physical therapy technician, he received special training as a certified aquatic therapist. After graduating cum laude from Georgia Southern University, he went on to earn his doctorate in podiatric medicine (DPM) as well as a masters in biomedical sciences at Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences in Miami Shores, Florida. He was then accepted to complete a 3 year surgical residency at Harvard affiliated Cambridge Hospital, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Here he obtained advanced surgical training in the areas of adult and pediatric flatfoot reconstruction, diabetic charcot and limb salvage and external fixation. Following graduation, he began working in private practice just outside of Boston focusing on sports medicine and related injuries. He has served on the Consumer Education Committee for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and worked closely with residents as an attending surgeon at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Worcester Massachusetts.

In November of 2009, Dr. Ledesma and his wife decided to relocate to Arizona to be closer to family and escape the harsh New England winters. After working in the Scottsdale area since 2009, Dr. Ledesma has now opened Ledesma Foot & Ankle. Aside from bringing specialized training and interest in sports medicine and reconstructive surgery, Ledesma Foot & Ankle’s mission is to provide a truly customized treatment plan, quality patient consultation time, and greater physician accessibility.

In his spare time, Dr. Ledesma enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, playing golf, fly fishing, scuba diving, tennis, playing the guitar, and spending time with his wife and two children.

CONDITIONS OF THE FOOT & ANKLE

This condition, also called TTS, affects the tibial nerve in the ankle. This nerve is a branch of the sciatic nerve. It passes from the leg down to the foot. Just below the bony bump on the inner side of the ankle, it passes through a small space called the tarsal tunnel. TTS is a compression of the nerve within this tunnel.

This deformity affects the joint at the base of the big toe. It is a bony bump beneath the skin on the inner side of the foot. A bunion starts small, but over time it can grow to become very large. Bunions are more common in women.

This term is used to describe foot problems that stem from diabetes. These problems can be difficult to treat.
